Our Little Trooper

This past Friday was the greatly anticipated day of surgery. We were so ready to get this over with. I told Sean I have been thinking about this day since the day she was born and a huge burden will be lifted once I knew she was going to be alright.

Right after surgery they took her to the Pediatric ICU because she was having trouble with her breathing. The string hanging from her mouth was a stitch they put in her tounge for a precaution in case they needed to pull her tounge forward to help her breathe easier. The thing in her nose is called and nose trumpet and it was in there in case they needed to suction her because they couldn't go in through the mouth because it might damage the surgery.

She was so angry, I definetely saw a new side of our sweet little Drew. This is her staring at the monitor on her toe. She was thinking about how much she hated that thing.

This is Miss Loralee who brought Drew her favorite dancing gofur from her office that Drew likes to play with. It was a life saver in the hospital. Drew wouldn't smile but she would dance to the music.

Grammy was such a big help. She was keeping Drew pre-occupied from her pain and showing her the view of Oakland.

Drew watching Blue's Clues with Daddy.

Ok, so within a day after Drew got some juice and a little food down she was a different girl. She was riding up and down the halls of the pediatric floor waving hi to everyone and blowing kisses. I put socks on her hands so she wouldn't try to touch her mouth. She actually liked the socks on her hands. She would hold her hand up for me to put them on when they fell off.

This is on the day we were discharged. She was so ready to get out of there.

So we are home now and I have a new nickname for Drew. "Little Diva". She got so much attention in the hospital she thinks she runs this house. (she does right now. Haha) She is still in some pain and is missing her favorite 2 fingers she used to suck on. The stroller is the only place I can get her to fall asleep in. I think she hates cribs now since she lived in one for 4 days. God is so good. He held her in His hands and supported us through this whole long process. I've learned so much along the way! Thank you to all our family and friends who have supported us through this difficult time. To God be the Glory!!!!!!

Praise God that she is doing so well. Isn't it amazing how quickly they bounce back!

I don't know about the view from Oakland, maybe you had a different window than we did :)
